ARTIN RESIDENCE, CAMBRIDGE
This project consisted of an addition to an 1876 Victorian residence in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The client operated a part-time bed and breakfast in the house, and she wanted to increase the dining area in the kitchen and improve access to the backyard. We added a dining bay, reconfigured the rear entrance and a powder room, and added a raised herb garden and an at-grade stone terrace off the kitchen. The detailing of the new bay echoes the character and proportions of the more formal bays on the side and front of the house but was simplified for economy. In addition, the basement access pavilion was redesigned to add charm to the backyard and terrace. |
