Construction Photo 1/05

Construction of this 1900 square foot house will begin during the spring of 2004 on a lake front site in East Hampton , Connecticut. The house is sited to take advantage of the dramatic views to the west, over the water. The first floor includes an open kitchen, dining and living area, with a small lake side porch. The guest/study room is separated from the main living space with interior windows, which give a transparency to the room and allow views of the lake from the heart of the house. The stair wraps a dramatic two story, free standing brick chimney. The second floor has a master suite, laundry room and a porch in the south west corner.

Located on a small (less than ¼ acre site) one goal of the project was to forsake size for quality of the materials. The exterior has a granite veneer foundation, natural finish red cedar shingles, aluminum clad windows and Ipe wood at the porch floors. The interior has Brazilian cherry wood floors. Heating system is in-floor, hot water radiant heat.
